Good morning reader! I have a question for you. I would appreciate your sharing this post to your friends so I can get as many opinions as possible.
Last night I received a text from a person attending the Board of Architectural Review. The meeting was in town chambers and this person had an item before the BAR. The members of the BAR sit up on the dais where glass has been installed between each member. The chair of the BAR did not wear a mask. The texter was extremely uncomfortable with the unmasked chair, while the glass protected the BAR members from each other it does not protect the public. Her item came up early in the meeting and she said if it had been later on the agenda she would have left before it came up even though this item was important to her businesses. She was that uncomfortable.
The council sits on the same dais for our meetings. Because of the masks the members wear, it can be difficult for staff to hear some the council members, many members have softer voices, do not lean into the mike, or move from the mike as the member is making a point. One council member takes off her mask regularly when she speaks, the rest of members keep them on. Town staff has suggested because if the difficulty in hearing the members, that all of us take off our masks when we speak.
What I want to ask you is how would you feel coming into a town council meeting, seeing the members on the dais taking off their masks to speak? Would this make you uncomfortable? Would you not care?
This issue is important to me because I do not want anyone to feel they are not safe coming to a town council or town board or commission meeting. Let me know what your reaction to the lack of mask wearing, would you be uncomfortable, would you be ok, and what do you expect of your elected and appointed officials to keep you safe? Thank you …

Parks and Recreation Cancels Classes Due to Winter Weather
Leesburg, VA (February 17, 2021) – Due to current weather forecasts of six to eight inches of snow, all classes at Ida Lee Recreation Center have been cancelled for Thursday, February 18, 2021.
